While visitors to the Autry Museum of the American West are viewing “Out of Site: Survey Science and the Hidden West,” the museum is viewing them. Suspended overhead at three strategic locations are cutouts of drones, each of which is equipped with a real sort of surveillance device: an infrared camera, a thermography camera or a depth-sensing camera. The spectral images they produce are projected on screens nearby.
